Abstract

376,379. Tents. COOMBS, W. T., Sunnylea Bungalow, Caernarvon. April 14, 1931, Nos. 10949 and 26141. [Class 20 (i).] An awning which is collapsable into an end frame box is provided with resilient means to take up the expansion and contraction of the covering fabric. The frame box a is provided with wheels and is formed of wood, or wood and metal, and is also provided at its rear side with a hinged flap m to engage under the front wheels of a car when the awning is to be used as a garage. The awning covering is supported on arched ribs c connected by hinged stays s, the end ones of which are connected to the box frame while the end rib is also connected to the frame by springs q so that it can move relatively to the frame. Each end of the awning is closed by a curtain sliding on horizontal rods f, g, the lower one g of which is hinged to the rib c. The forward end of the curtain is carried by a vertical rod e which can be locked to one side of the rib. The ribs may be provided with rollers k. When used as a bathing hut or garden shelter the front curtain is replaced by a hinged door, and the flap m by a larger flap a<1> which can fold up to close the rear end of the box frame. The flap is provided with clips u to receive horizontal rods disposed across the lower ends of the ribs x.
