Abstract

376,125. Drills and cutters ; chucks. DENZ, J., 192, Hamerstrasse, Basle, Switzerland. Oct. 20, 1931, No. 29153. Convention date, Oct. 21, 1930. [Clase 83 (iii).] A chuck for holding drills comprises a split collet a having a tubular portion terminating in jaws c with oppositely located bevelled shoulders which coact with conical rings b<1>, d, when an exterior cap f is screwed on the body e. The rings b<1>, dare interchangeable and the drill n may be inserted to any desired depth within the tubular portion a, which also serves to centre the drill. Rotation of the collet within the body is prevented by pins g, and the collet is pressed outwards by a spring h. The end of the cap f mav be formed as a countersink i for wood or metal or may have removably screwed thereon an annular file for facing &c., or a chip-breaker. A sleeve k is adjustably secured to the cap f by screws to act as a depth gauge.
