Abstract
375,754. Scutching flax &c. PARET, H., 30, Rue TraversiÞre, Bruges, Belgium. Dec. 22, 1930, No. 38536. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 120 (i).] In scutching flax and like stalks the stalks are beaten by blades acting perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly thereto, as shown in Fig. 5. The stalks are scutched by coacting frames 2, 3, Fig. 2, rotatably mounted on bearings 4, 5 in casings 1, 1<1>, Fig. 1, and driven in opposite directions by intermeshing gear wheels 7. The scutching blades 6 are formed with an inclined guide member 9, Fig. 6, extending oppositely to the direction of rotation, while the stalks are conveyed through the machine by an endless belt 12 extending round pulleys 13,14 and working in a slotted guide channel 10. Alternatively, two belts are provided, passing over intermediate pulleys 20<1>. The belt 12 is held down by a resilient pressure bar 15 and an angle-iron guide 19, Fig. 5. The stalks are turned over in the conveyer to scutch the previously non-scutched portion by means of an aspirator 23 having an oblique opening 27, Fig. 2.
