375,434. Making welded tubes. SCOTTISH IRON & STEEL CO., Ltd., 53, Bothwell Street, Glasgow, and WATERSTON, H. C., Trehearne, Queen Street, Helensburgh, Dumbartonshire. Dec. 11, 1931, No. 4249. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Angular bending ; piling. -Metal strip for the production of welded tubes by drawing through dies while hot is manufactured from a pile of puddled bar rolled to the breadth and thickness of the strip A and formed during rolling with longitudinal grooves B in one face of the strip for preventing the formation of compression ridges inside the tube during the production of the welded tube. The strip may be curved transversely during rolling and the grooves formed in the convex side, the strip being subsequently flattened.
