[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Rolling; angular bending.-The thinning of a profile section at a bend during formation in bending rolls is prevented by first locally heating, e.g. between electrodes 2, and then rolling the section to provide a rib or thickening 1b, Fig. 4, and then bending in rolls 7, 8, Fig. 6, where the rolls press on the metal over areas a, i.e. away from corners or edges. Fig. 7 shows thickenings formed for making a channel section and Fig. 9 shows a section finished with bulb flanges. Specifications 477,581, 477,589, 477,590, and 477,592 are referred to.
