Abstract

1297136 Corrugating COOKSON SHEET METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 15 June 1970 [20 June 1969] 31280/69 Heading B3C A method of profiling metal sheat includes the steps of deforming to a valley shape 32, Fig. 1, a portion of the sheet having a width greater than the width of the strip of the sheet from which a desired profile is to be formed and having at its apex the strip from which the desired profile is to be formed, passing the sheet between a pair of rolls 10, 12 to form an initial rib 26, and passing the ribbed sheet between a second pair of rolls 44, 46 and 48, 50 Fig. 4, to re-shape the rib 26 into the desired profile 56, 58. A third set of rolls 90, 92, Fig. 7, may be mounted either on each side of or behind rolls 44, 46 and 48, 50 so that valleys are formed in advance of the rolls 90, 92 and, on passing through the rolls, ribs 60, 62 are formed. The ribs 60 and 62 are then reformed by rolls similar to the rolls 44, 46 and 48, 50 to form pairs of ribs 64, 66 and 68, 70 Fig. 6.
