[Class 6 (iii).] A swath-turner and side-delivery rake comprises two separate raking devices, each consisting of a number of rakes, each rake having a horizontal head rotating in a circular path, the ends of which are carried by discs or flyers and the teeth of which, fixed to the head, are always in a hanging position, both rotating raking-devices being permanently attached to the machine and adapted to be moved transversely or longitudinally so that one of the rotating raking-mechanisms may be set in front of the other rotating raking-mechanism and on one or other side of the machine, and the last-mentioned rotating raking-mechanism may be set at the rear of the machine on the opposite side to that on which the first-mentioned rotating raking-mechanism is set. Sleeves 7, Fig. 1, on the main axle 2 carry arms 8 supporting a shaft 9 carrying a bevel wheel 10 controlled by a clutch device 13 and a chain wheel 11 driven from a chain wheel 12 on the main axle. The bevel wheel 10 meshes with a bevel wheel 14 on a hollow shaft 15 carrying a disc or flyer 4. The rear disc or flyer is mounted on a bent rod 16 on which the shaft 15 rotates and is driven by the rake heads 5 from the other disc or flyer 4. The frame 17 carrying the bearing for the rear disc is supported by a castor wheel 6 and by a bracket 19 on one of the arms 8. The sleeves 7 and arms 8 may be rotated around the main axle 2 into either of the positions shown in Fig. 1 and locked in position by a lock nut 21, locking lever 22 and locking bolt 23. In a modification, Fig. 2, sleeves 24 slide on the main axle 2 and the shafts 27 are telescopic. In a further modification, Fig. 3, a frame 37 supported by the main axle 2 and by a castor wheel 6, carries an auxiliary shaft 36 driven from the main axle 2, the sleeves 24 carrying the raking-mechanisms being mounted to slide, the one on the main axle 2 and the other on the shaft 36. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the one raking- mechanism is carried forwardly of the machine on an auxiliary shaft 36 driven from the main axle 2 which carries the other raking- mechanism, arranged at the rear of the machine.
