Haymaking. - A swath-turner of the type described in Specifications 28497/03, 2 4 8 7 8 / 0 5 , 2792/07, a n d 632/14, has its swath - turning heads e, e' so arranged that they may be brought close together in order to convert the machine into a side-delivery rake. The forward ends of the spindles of the heads are carried in bearings g pivotally mounted on slide members h<1> on a front bar h. Set-pins h<2> secure these members in position. The rear ends of the spindle are fitted with bevel-wheels each adapted to be moved to engage one or other of a pair of bevel-wheels driven from the ground wheels a, so that the swath-turning heads may be rotated in the same or different directions. The axle is adapted to be contracted to convert the machine into its sidedelivery rake form by an adjustable axle similar to that described in Specification 24878/05, but having the sliding eye-pieces i secured to the cranked axle-pieces f near the cranked portions f<1>. In order to enable the rear head e' to deal with the double load when the machine is used as a side-delivery rake, a second pinion is provided on its shaft, which is arranged to mesh with a large pinion j<3> on the axle shaft, thus giving a greater speed of rotation to the head.
