Abstract

375,081. Heat treating rails. SANDBERG, C. P., SANDBERG, O. F. A., and SANDBERG, N. P. P., 40, Grosvenor Gardens, Buckingham Palace Road, London. June 26, 1931, No. 18553. [Class 72.] A hot bed 2 is provided with a refractory roof 7 or chamber 4 with gas burners 9 to retard cooling and a second cooling chamber 5. The rolled rails enter the chamber 4 through hinged flaps 11 at not lower than about 550‹ C. and rest there or pass along through the deflectable flap 13 and the chamber 5 where they fall to about 350‹ C. The chamber roofs 7, 8 may be carried by a superstructure traversable on wheels. The hot bed may also be of refractory material 14 under the roofs. Specification 324,686, [Class 72, Iron &c.], is referred to.
