374,981. Heating buildings; generating steam by reduction of pressure. RUTHSACCUMULATOR AKTIEBOLAG, 1A, Eriksbergsgatan, Stockholm. March 27, 1931, No. 9429. Convention date, April 12, 1930. [Classes 64 (ii) and 123 (ii).] An installation for supplying steam and hot water the demands for which fluctuate independently, comprises an evaporator 6 to which hot water is supplied and from which steam and hot water are taken for the steam and hot water consumers respectively, and a heat accumulator 1 the steam space of which is connected by a pipe 3 to the pipe 9 leading to the steam consumers and supplies steam demands not met by the evaporator 1. In one form, Fig. 1, hot water is supplied through a pipe 2 to the heat accumulator 1 the water space of which is connected to the evaporator 6 by a pipe 7 with a valve 8 regulated by the water level in the evaporator. The pipe 9 has a valve 18 regulated by the temperature or pressure in the evaporator for maintaining the pressure therein and a valve 10 which with the valve 4 in pipe 3 is controlled by the pressure in the steam pipe for supplying the consumers to maintain the pressure therein. The valve 10 is normally open and only closes when valve 4 is already closed and the steam pressure in the supply pipe rises above normal. Hot water is supplied to the consumers from evaporator 6 through pipe 11. In a modification, Fig. 2, the hot water pipe 2 is connected to an evaporator 13 in which the water is kept at constant level by a valve 14, the water being supplied from evaporator 13 to evaporator 6. Steam is supplied through a pipe 15 from evaporator 13 to heat accumulator 1 which has also a steam supply through a pipe 16. A valve 17 in pipe 15 is controlled by the pressure or temperature in the evaporator 6 or the pipe 9 so that it opens more widely with increasing pressure and conversely.
