Abstract

374,702. Bottle &c. stoppers. CROWLEY, J. F., and VACSEAL CONTAINERS, Ltd., Westminster House, Great George Street, London. Aug. 26, 1931, No. 23949. [Class 125 (iii).] A jar, can, &c., comprising a container-part and a cap-part both being of metal, or one part being formed of rigid material, e.g. glass, and constructed with a horizontal flange 3 on one part adapted to receive an elastic packing ring 4, a flange 7 bearing vertical depressions 8 leading into a partial or complete groove 6, the other part having spaced pips 9, upraised from the material of that part, is characterized in that the pips 9 may pass into the spaces 8 or alternatively may hold, in an angularly displaced position, upon the full diameter of the flange 7. A pulling tab 5 for breaking the vacuum is preferably provided. Fig. 5 indicates that the depressions 14, 15, analogous to the depressions 8 of Fig. 1, may be staggered on each side so that when the lid is turned through 180‹, before putting on, it will then hold on a full diameter.
