Abstract

374,566. Canisters &c. FRANCIS, S. W., Thames Ironworks, John Penn Street, London. April 10, 1931, No. 10609. [Class 66.] A sheet metal tin or like canister x is provided with a bail handle b and has means for attaching the handle consisting of a pair of sheet metal stampings a adapted to be soldered or spot welded opposite one another to the upper end of the can wall, the upper part of each stamping being cranked outwardly and then continued upwardly as an ear or lug a<3>, adapted to be bent down to engage over the top flange y<1> of the lever or slip lid y and having if desired one or more perforations a<4> to receive a sealing wire or its equivalent, and the lower part being formed with a hemispherical projection a<1> provided with a central hole a<2> approximately of the same size as the cross section of the wire used for the handle. The lid may be seated in a mouth ring x<1> having a flange x<2> at its bottom and a bead x<3> engaging over the top of the can. Specification 224,116 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 224,116, [Class 46, Filtering &c.].
