March 17, 1931, No. 8212 [Classes 20 (iii) and 137.] A vehicle window construction comprises two vertically-slidable sashes 12, 13, Figs. 1 and 2, movable in parallel guides, the inner sash 12 being formed with a cut-away part 18 through which the driver may extend his arm for signalling purposes when the outer sash is lowered, while the outer sash 13 is adapted completely to close the window opening when in the raised position. The effective size of the opening 18 may be regulated by raising or lowering the inner sash. The outer and inner sashes slide respectively in tracks 9, 8 and are received, when lowered, within a well 7. The tracks may be lined with felt or other material. A fixed panel 19 depending from the top rail 6 and extending between the tracks is adapted to exclude any direct 'draught when the inner sash is lowered slightly from its uppermost position. The upper edges of the sashes are received, when the sashes are raised, by grooved seats 10, 11, of a material similar to the linings of the tracks 8, 9.
