Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. 38 (ii).] In means for converting polyphase currents into single phase currents of higher frequency, a pair of rectifying devices III, Fig. 1, are associated with a polyphase supply transformer comprising primary windings I and secondary windings II, the single phase load IV being connected between the cathodes of the devices III and also to the star points a, b of the transformer secondaries. Thus current flowing alternately from the windings a, b through the devices III passes in opposite directions through the load IV. In an alternative arrangement, a similar transformer system is associated in the manner shown in Fig. 2 with a single cathode rectifying device, the cathode of which is connected to the mid-point of the primary winding of a single phase transformer feeding the load IV, current from the windings a, b passing alternately through opposite halves of the output transformer primary. Other arrangements of windings for supply transformers for different numbers of phases on the input side are diagrammatically illustrated in Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown). The Specification suggests that single phase current of the same frequency as the polyphase current can be obtained, and also that the wave form of the output can be modified by the use of " chokes, screen chains, or grid potentials."
