Abstract

372,960. Mangles and wringers. HARRIS, C. W., Sheiling, Northendon Road, Gatley, Cheshire. April 11, 1931, No. 15319. Divided on 373,346. [Class 138 (ii).] Driving-gear for mangles, wringers, and calenders which remains in mesh during separation of the rollers comprises a link n and a member k which are interpivoted at c. The link is connected to the vertically slidable shaft g<1> of the upper roller g and the member k is formed with a boss l which forms the bearing for the shaft j<1> of the lower roller j, the boss being rotatably mounted in the stationary halfbearing block m. A pinion b, operated by power or by a crank handle a, is mounted on the pivot pin c and meshes with the gear wheel f on the upper roller shaft and with a pinion d mounted on another pin e on the member k and engaging the gear wheel h on the lower shaft. The pinion d is of double width to compensate for the shorter length of the lower roller shaft as shown in Fig. 1.
