Abstract
372,605. Mine roof supports. THIELMANN, P., Silschede, Westphalia, and PEYINGHAUS, W., (trading as EISEN UND STAHLWERK W. PEYINGHAUS), Egge, near Volmarstein, Ruhr, both in Germany. June 25, 1931, No. 18449. [Class 20 (ii).] Relates to roof supports of the kind in which the roof girders are supported at their ends upon substantially vertical props. According to the invention, each prop 6 is fitted with a cap 1 the sides of which are slotted to receive a transverse bar 4. This bar receives the lateral pressure exerted by the girder 7, the end only of which is shown, and under excessive pressure is adapted to bend thereby preventing any distortion or damage to the cap itself. A cramp iron 5 on the cap transmits the lateral pressure on the bar 4 to the prop 6.
