Abstract
372,246. Respiratory appliances. DAVIS, R. H. and DAVIS, R. W. G., 187, Westminster Bridge Road, London. Nov. 30, 1931, No. 33200. [Class 81 (ii).] In self-contained d breathing appliances of the kind wherein the parts, such as the absorbent canister 2, the breathing bag 1, and the oxygen cylinder 7 are carried on the wearer's back and covered at the back and also on the sides by a solid guard or a frame 11, the parts are all mounted on the guard and are spaced from the small of the back to avoid inconvenience in stooping. As shown, the oxygen cylinder 7 is held by a metal strap 14, secured to a lug on the guard by a bolt and fly-nut ; the canister 2 is attached to an upper flange 12 on the guard by the exhaling pipe 4 which passes through the flange and is secured thereto by nuts 15 ; and the breathing-bag is supported by brackets 16 on the guard and by rigid pipes 5, 6 connecting the bag with the canister and the inhalation pipe respectively, the pipe 6 being secured to the flange 12 in the same manner as the pipe 4. The guard is supported at the back by straps 13, secured to the flange 12 and to the lower corners of the guard, and passing over the shoulders and under the arms.
