Abstract

203,741. Davis, R. H., and Rosling, C. G. May 12, 1922. Respiratory aplpliances.-Relates to masks wherein an ori-nasal mask is attached to a larger face mask, and consists in arranging the orinasal mask outside the face mask, and enabling the eyes to be uncovered while retaining a gastight joint around the nose and mouth. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the ori-nasal mask b of sponge, rubber &c. is arranged outside a flexible sheet-rubber face mask a which carries the usual expiratory valve c and air connection d. The upper head-straps are fastened to the usual pad i<1> by a quick-release fastening, and additional straps j are provided to secure the ori-nasal mask independently. The eyepieces e are triangular in shape and may be cleaned by pads n carried on rods which are secured in flexible pockets m in the face mask. In a modification the eyepieces are mounted in an external flexible layer of rubber-proofed fabric which is stitched to the face mask around the edges enabling the eyepieces to be moved relative to the eyes of the wearer.
