Abstract

371,427. Windings for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Hull, J. I. ; 1338, Dean Street, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Jan. 14, 1931, No. 1278. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1930. [Class 35.] In order to improve commutation in a multiple winding different windings are connected by equipotential leads so as to form short circuit paths enclosing one tooth and one tooth only. In the arrangement shown such a circuit is formed by its slot conductor 38, end connection 40, equipotential lead 55, end connection 48, slot conductor 43, end connections 47, 46, slot conductor 44, end connection 45, equipotential lead 56, end connection 53, slot conductor 49, and end connections 54, 39. This circuit embraces the rotor tooth 58 and no other, and it is stated that its inductance checks sparking when the brush 17 short circuits the slot conductor 38 through the end connections 39, 40 and lead 55 as shown.
