Abstract
371,415. Typewriters &c. SIEMENS. & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Jan. 22, 1931, No. 2216. Convention date, Feb. 3, 1930. [Class 100 (iv).] Platen-rotation for blanking.-In a page- .printing telegraph, the paper controls means for permitting repeated operation of the linespacing mechanism to effect blanking. In the apparatus shown in the Figure, a web 2 having perforations 13 at page-length intervals passes over a platen 1 provided with line-spacing mechanism comprising a rocking arm 4 connected to a bell crank 7 which abuts on a slide 8 controlling a dog 10 forming part of a onerevolution clutch. The arm 4 is connected also to a bar 3 which is released by the selector-bars to initiate line-spacing. Normally only a single line-spacing movement occurs, and the clutch is then disabled by the slide. To permit repeated line-spacing, the bell crank is retained by a latch 11, and the slide is thereby prevented from returning. The latch is connected by a rocking arm 15 and link 14 to a feeler-lever 12 which normally enters a slot 16<1> in a stationary plate 16 and prevents co-operation of the latch and bell crank. When the platen-carriage is moved to the extreme left-hand position, the web prevents the feeler-lever from entering the slot, and the latch is permitted to hold the bell crank. Thereafter, the line-spacing mechanism is repeatedly operated to effect blanking, the operation being stopped when one of the perforations 13 registers with the feeler-lever.
