Sept. 1, 1931, No. 24557. Convention date, Sept. 2, 1930. [Class 118 (ii).] For transmitting signals from one point to another of an electric power-transmission network, sustained mechanical vibrations of high frequency are impressed on one or more of the cables of the network, thereby causing ultrasonic waves to travel along the cable from the emitting to the receiving station. The signals may be transmitted along the earth wires of an overhead power-transmission network. A piezoelectric device may be used for producing the high frequency mechanical oscillations.
