Abstract

290,333. Della Riccia, A. Feb. 8, 1927. Selective signalling apparatus.-In a device for signalling a ship's course and direction, in which the signals are modulated at frequencies characteristic of the direction of emission, the receiving instrument comprises a complete set of M resonators, corresponding to M directions. Thus, interrupted light signals may fall on a selenium cell, or like device which controls the energizing current of a multipole magnet D similar to that shown in Fig. 3, the current passing through the contacts 20, 21, or not, as desired. The appropriate armature 19 vibrates and thus indicates the course of the vessel. The armatures 19 at the receiving station are so arranged that the line joining the affected armature to the centre of the magnet shall be parallel to the course of the distant ship.
