Abstract

611,639. Repeating systems. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd., GRAHAM, G. E. G., and MORGAN, M. April 30, 1946, No. 13053. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Groups XL (b) and XL (c)] Operating conditions at an unattended station for repeating a telephonic, telegraphic, television or facsimile transmission are signalled by pulses during blank intervals in the main transmission. A television repeater comprises an amplifier 2, a modulator 3 and a transmitter 4 and the variables to be monitored are converted into potentials which are applied to the contacts a to d of a mechanical or an electronic switch 7. A pulse generator 8 triggered from a time base 6 generates five pulses 11 to 15, Fig. 2b, during each masking pulse 9, Fig. 2a, and the switch 7 is operated from the same time base 6 so that the amplitude of the pulses 12 to 15, Fig. 2c, transmitted is controlled by the potentials on the contacts a to d respectively. Pulse 11 is a standard pulse. At the receiver, the pulses in the resulting wave train (Fig. 2d) are gated and measured by suitable meters or a display panel.
