Abstract

370,212. Making plates of cardboard, asbestos-cement, &c. AKT.-GES. DER MASCHINENFABRIK VON T. BELL ET CIE, Kriens, Lucerne, Switzerland. May 1, 1931, No. 12859. Convention date, March 14 [Class 96.] Compound webs of paper, cardboard, asbestos-cement, &c. are formed by two groups. A, B, Fig. 1, of cylinder machines 1, 2, the felts 3, 4 being so directed that the webs from the last cylinder of each group come together, and are united by press rolls 5 or a suction roll and passed successively to a couch press 9 and devices 14, 15, Fig. 1a, for cutting the web longitudinally and transversely into sheets or plates. The plates may pass from the cutters 15 by rollers 16 and belts 17 to stamping and cutting presses &c. The felt 4 &c. passes through press rolls 7 over a suction roll 8 and a tension roll 11. One or both outer layers of the sheets may be of material better than or coloured differently from that of the inner layers. The rising side of each forming cylinder may contact with a roller removing part or all' of the web from the cylinder and returning it thereto after disalignment of the fibres with jets of water, steam or gas, giving increased transverse strength and better felting ; the roller may be scraped by an axially-movable doctor. The cylinders and felts may be cleaned of cement &c. by steam.
