Abstract

370,184. Chimney tops. WYLIE, J. G. M., Mounthoolie Lane, Kirkwall, Orkney Isles. April 2, 1931, No. 10003. [Class 25.] In a chimney cowl for preventing down draught of the kind provided with a fixed internal baffle and spaced tubular vents extending outwardly and downwardly from the cowl in the vicinity of the baffle, the tubular vents 3 and the baffle 6 which is in the form of a simple inverted cone, are arranged at a median position in the length of the cowl 1, the lineal formation of the cowl body being unaffected by the baffle and vent openings. The cowl is preferably of tapered form with four equally spaced vents, the combined areas of which approximately equal the area of the top of the cowl.
