R. ; 12, Brozel Street, Rochester, New- York, U.S.A.) Dec. 20, 1930, No. 38454. Convention date, Oct. 16. [Class 52 (ii).] Adjustable and tilting seats.- A vertically adjustable seat includes releasable holding means for the seat member for co-operation with the fixed base, adapted to support the seat at different elevations, the holding means being mounted for rotation relatively to the seatcarrying shaft and about a vertical axis to and from engagement with a series of superimposed abutments on the base. Such a seat structure is shown in the drawings, comprising a seat member 12 carried by a vertical shaft 13 on which is rotatably mounted a toothed holding element 35 adapted to engage teeth 37 on strips 38 mounted within the standard 11. When the release element 45 is depressed by tilting the wheel 56, its cam surfaces 48 rotate the holding element 35, to free its teeth 36 from the teeth 37 and allow vertical adjustment of the seat. A coiled spring 44 returns the member 35 on release of the wheel 56. The seat and its standard may be tilted against the action of springs 26, and may be locked in angularly adjusted position by a screw 62.
