Abstract
276,212. Urithzen, O. J. Dec. 16, 1926. Anti-dazzle screens.- Adjustment of an antidazzle screen for the use of vehicle drivers is effected by rotatably mounting the screen upon a fixed member or support to which it is connected by a clutch device which can be disengaged to permit rotation of the screen upon its mounting and will retain the screen in any adjusted position. In the construction shown the screen a, which is sector-shaped and strengthened at its edges by beading b, is clamped between the flange f<1> of a tubular member f and a knob e having a tubular passage therethrough, all these parts being rotatably mounted on a screw i, which passes through the knob e and is connected to a disc g and suction cup j forming the support by which the screen is attached to the windscreen or other part of the vehicle. A flange g<1> on the disc g is provided with a circularly disposed series of holes co-operating with a pin h on the parts e, f and with a spring l in the knob e to secure the screen in any desired angular position, adjustment being effected by pulling the knob e outwardly and then rotating it. In a modification, the pin h is dispensed with by providing the abutting portions of the clutch members f<1>, g<1> with toothed, serrated or roughened surfaces giving a frictional grip. In further modifications the abutting surfaces are made conical or the member f is provided with a spring pressed ball engaging one or other of a series of circularly disposed recesses in the disc g.
