The present invention relates to bookkeepers arm rests.
Objects of the invention are to provide an arm or hand rest particularly for bookkeepers and usable with any size or thickness of book and'provided with an offset stabilizing portion and also with finger grips by means of which the device may be adjusted to the convenience of the user.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, which illustrate, by way of example, a preferred embodiment of the invention, but which are not to be taken as a definition of the limits thereof, reference for that purpose being had to the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating the invention in use;
Fig. 2- is a sectional view of the device while it is used in connection with a book, the section being vertical and taken from front to rear, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the invention, particularly illustrating the stabilizing portion.
Referring in detail to the accompanying drawin s, the invention is provided with two arms 11 and 12, the arm 12 serving as a hand or arm rest, and the arm 11 being provided with punched-out or upset flanges or flaps 13, which serve as finger grips, which are used as indicated in Fig. 1. The device may be shifted across a book by one hand on the guiding or adjusting arm 11.
An offset stabilizing arm 16 extends from the arm rest 12 and is offset therefrom'so that it lies in a lower plane for the purpose of extending in between the leaves of a book, as indicated in Fig. 1, and serving to steady the device and retain it in operative position. The device may be'made in various sizes and of various materials, though it is preferred to use a material that is light and relatively rigid, such as aluminum.
What is claimed is:
A arm rest comprising a device having hand of the user, said finger grip portions being substantially perpendicular to said first named fiat rest portion.
