Abstract

1491292 Resiliently mounted seats G W GRAMMER [trading as WILLIBALD GRAMMER] 22 May 1975 [28 Sept 1974] 22340/75 Heading A4U A seat support 2 is mounted on a base 1 by a pair of scissor linkages 5, 6 and 5<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP>, the lower ends of the inner links 5, 5<SP>1</SP> being inter-connected by a shaft 13 carrying a supporting lever 34, the seat support being resiliently mounted on the base by a pair of adjustable tension springs 18 acting upon a roller 30 engaging a cam surface 33 on the lever and the lever being lockable in any one of a number of angular positions relative to a pair of transmission levers 39 fixed to the shaft to adjust the initial ride position of the seat support. The lever is locked in position by the engagement of a spring-biased detent 42, which passes through the lever, with a pair of toothed segments provided at the ends of the transmission levers 39 fixed to the shaft on either side of the supporting lever. The shape of the detent and toothed segments allow the seat support to be gradually raised. However, if it is desired to lower the seat support, the support must first be raised to the upper end position in which the detent completely disengages the toothed segments and then lowered to the lower end position. The detent is prevented from engaging the segments during movement from the upper to the lower end position by a pair of plates 50. Specification No. 1491291 is referred to.
