Abstract
1491291 Resiliently mounted seats G W GRAMMER [trading as WILLIBALD GRAMMER] 22 May 1975 [28 Sept 1974] 22339/75 Heading A4U A spring-biased vehicle seat comprises seat and floor frames 2, 1 inter-connected by two scissors 5, 6 and 5, 6<SP>1</SP> for changing the height of frame 2, the arms being pivoted at one end at 7 or 8 to frame 1 or 2 and being slideably guided at the other end at 9 on frame 2 or 1, and a supporting lever 34 swingable with arms 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and having at its free end a run-up cam surface 33 engageable with a spring-biased roller 30 whereby on downward loading of the seat, arrow 35, the swing of lever 34, arrow 36, causes linear motion to the right, arrow 37, of roller 30 against the bias of springs 18 and the load is transmitted to the springs 18. Each spring 18 is connected at one end at 19 to frame 1 and at the other end at 38 to a threaded block 20, 21 engaging a threaded spindle 22 operable by a handle 23 to adjust the initial tension of the springs 18. Spindle 22 carries a fork 28 with a spindle 29 on which are freely rotatable the roller 30 and larger guide rollers 31 which run on frame 1. As shown lever 34 is freely rotatable on a shaft 13 rigidly connecting the pivoted ends of arms 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and is coupled to arms 5, 5<SP>1</SP> by transmission levers 39 fast with shaft 13 and having toothed segments 41 that co-operate with spring-biased detents 42 carried by lever 34, for adjusting the height of frame 2. The upper flanks (47), Fig. 4 (not shown), of the teeth 41 and the lower edge (46) of the detent 42 are chamfered so that on manually raising the seat frame 2, the detent 42 is automatically disengaged from its notch in segment 41 and reengages in the next lower notch. On frame 2 being raised beyond its uppermost locking position, Fig.3, detent 42 is held out of engagement with segment 41 by a disengaging plate 50 until frame 2 is manually lowered completely so that detent 42 can engage the uppermost notch 51 to lock frame 2 in its lowest position Fig.2 (not shown). In a modification, in which the height of frame 2 is not adjustable, lever 34 is fast with shaft 13 or with one of the arms 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. A shock absorber 15 is connected between the frames 1, 2. Specification No. 1491292 is referred to.
