Abstract
369,926. Indirectly heated steam boilers. BAUMANN, K., Northwoodhouse, Barnfield, Urmston, Lancashire. Dec. 19, 1930, No. 38363. [Class 123 (ii).] Boilers of the type described in Specifications 340,295, 340,520, 342,361, 343,594, 343,595, 358,985, 359,400, and 369,927 have a number of watertubes 4a .. 4d passing across the top of the combustion chamber to form a superheater r chamber 19, 19a and connected to one end to collectors 5, 5a, and at the other to upper and lower headers 7, 9 connected to the boiler drum 10 by evaporative tubes and downcomers respectively, the superheater chamber being divided into two compartments by a baffle formed by some of the additional water-tubes being suitably bent and brought close together, encased in blocks or finned. The surface type evaporator 24 may be replaced by one of direct contact type or may be constituted by the boiler drum. A two-stage turbine &c. may receive high and low-pressure steam from evaporator and boiler drum circuits respectively or steam from an evaporator may reheat steam passing from one stage to another. Or exhaust from one stage may be resuperheated in an element in the flue 20.
