369,087. Refacing valve seats. REILLY, W., 2322, 11th Avenue, East, Vancouver, Canada. June 9, 1931, No. 16784. [Class 83 (iii).] Cutters and reamers.-Apparatus for refacing valve seats comprises a stem 6 divided longitudinally to form a pair of legs 8 having cutting elements 9 formed integral with their ends, and projections 11 below the cutting elements engaging the inner wall of the seat to centre the cutting head. The cutting head carries teeth 12 for seat facing and vertical teeth 13 which may be used for reaming valve seats of large diameter ; its effective diameter is adjusted by spreading the legs by means of a wedge 18 adjustable endwise between the legs and secured by a bolt 17 carrying a nut bearing on an outer face 15 of the tool substantially parallel to the wedge faces. A zone of weakness 14 permits the cutting edges to remain parallel. A U-shaped spring 27 housed pivotally between the legs engages the inner wall of the valve hood to support and centre the tool therein.
