Abstract
368,634. Mine props ; wood cutting. GLIEMANN, W., 5, Andreasstrasse, and WENDT, W., 48, Walpurgisstrasse, both in Essen, Germany. June 25, 1931, No. 18399. [Class 20 (ii).] Splitting heads or shoes are provided in combination with wooden mine props, so that the prop is split and the parts are deflected laterally. The shoe consists of a bearer a, Fig. 1, and one or more parallel cutter members b arranged symmetrically to it. The cutter or cutters may seat on a hemispherical or plain bearing c on the support, or may float on a pedestal provided with a ridge, or may be pivoted on side pivots, and the guiding portions b<1>, a<1> are so shaped that the split portions of the prop are spread laterally and are prevented from further strutting action. The upper guiding edge r may be in the form of a cutter so that side branches on the prop are sheared off. The splitting shoe may be hinged to another prop portion d, Fig. 7, or may be shaped at its upper end to receive a section-iron bearer, Fig. 3.
