Abstract
374,223. Skis. CARR, H. 0., 49, Grafton Road, Acton, and LILLYWHITES, Ltd., Criterion Buildings, Piccadilly Circus, both in London. May 5, 1931, No. 13285. [Class 132 (i).] Skis are formed with soles of rustless metal such as rustless steel, flexible brass, duralumin, &c., extending from edge to edge of the ski and for the greater part of its length. The sole plate b, Figs. 1 and 2, is secured to a wooden base f by screws and extends substantially over the, whole length of the ski, the ends d being left uncovered to prevent damage. The ski tapers slightly from the point 1 to the heel c and the upturned part is thicker than the body and heel parts. Parts h are cut away for lightness. The sole plate is secured by countersunk screws of softer material than the sole with their heads sunk below the sole plate, the holes being of the same or greater angle of countersink than that of the screws. In order to provide flexibility the sole may have a longitudinal slot corresponding with a similar groove in the base or a groove may be formed in the body only. The feet may occupy a position as shown in Fig. 3.
