Abstract

368,523. Globe holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. and BURBRIDGE, A. J., Magnet House, Kingsway, London. March 11, 1931, No. 7530. [Class 75 (ii).] The globe of an electric lighting fitting is held close to a ceiling, wall, or other flat surface by means of a holder comprising an outer member which is secured to the ceiling, an inner member having a gallery, and easily accessible means for securing the globe in position. The outer frame 4 is secured to the ceiling by screws passing through the holes 6. A gallery 7 having four arms 9 is connected, by means of screws 8, with the lip 3 on the neck of the globe 1, and is then placed in position within the frame 4, and held there by fixing screws 11 passing through holes in the frame 4 and arms 9. The frame 4 forms a continuation of the outer surface of the globe up to the ceiling. In a modification, the inner gallery is riveted to a cross strap which is secured to the outer frame. Four screws engage in holes in the four corners of the outer frame, and have cylindrical extension members attached to their ends which pass through holes in the gallery and engage the lip of the globe. The cross strap has a screwthreaded nipple to take the lamp holder, and holes to attach the support to the ceiling. The globe is a cube of opal glass.
