Abstract
368,176. Feeding sheets ; folding paper. WINKLER, A., 30, Seminarstrasse, and DœNNEBIER, M., 46, Engerser Landstrasse, both in Neuwied, Germany. June 27, 1931, No. 18654. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1930. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii).] To facilitate the withdrawal of the lowest sheet from a stack carried on a plate 2, compressed air is introduced at one or more places below the stack and spreads out between the stack and the plate 2 and thus minimizes friction. As shown, the sheets are withdrawn singly by an oscillating suction member 5, and advanced by a roller 7 co-operating with a rotary segment 6 and rings 11 between which the suckers 5 operate. A guide 10 directs the sheets to a conveyer band 10 passing over a roller 8. The segment 6 and roller 8 may be mounted in spring-pressed lever arms. The compressed air is introduced through conical openings 13 by nozzles 14 having ball ends which are ground into the openings 13 and are secured in position by flat-iron brackets 15. The invention may be applied to folding apparatus of the kind in which sheets are simultaneously folded and separated by rollers. arranged at the bottom of a pile of sheets.
