368,142. Systems depending on static transformers. FERRANTI, Ltd. and NORRIS, E. D. T., Hollinwood, Lancashire. May 14, 1931, No. 14323. Addition to 341,903. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] Two windings 2, 3 connected electrically in series and mutually disposed to possess considerable leakage reactance, and associated with a short circuited winding 4 capable of movement with respect to both windings, as in the parent Specification, are connected to definite unchanged tapping points a, b on a transformer winding to enable the voltage to be varied between the limits imposed by the tappings. A transformer secondary may be divided into two sections and a part of such windings may be connected in the above manner to one section and the junction between the windings connected to one end of the other section, and in a further modification both sections may be similarly connected with pairs of windings, each with a related short circuit winding 4, 4<1>, Fig. 3. the junctions between each pair of windings being connected together.
