367,798. Ball and float valves. LIQUID MEASUREMENTS, Ltd. and HAMMOND, F., Hammond Works, Victoria Road, North Acton, London. Nov. 19, 1930, No. 34849. [Class 135.] A nozzle device with valve for filling liquid fuel tanks comprises an elongated body 1, a selfclosing valve 8, manually operated means, such as the hand-lever 15, crank 12, and push rod 10 for opening the valve, and a catch device 16, 17 connected by links and levers 20, 21, 30 to a float 27, for holding the valve open. The float 27 is dis. posed in the lower end of the nozzle and within the tank, when filling, so that when the desired liquid level is attained, the rising of the float releases the catch.16, 17 and the supply valve 8 closes under the action of a spring 9. A tubular bung 33 adjustable along the nozzle by a nut 36 and split collett 35 provides for adjustment of the depth of the nozzle and float in the tank ; the gas or vapour displaced by the entering liquid escapes through the annular space 38 around the nozzle body.
