Abstract

The level of water or other liquid in a tank c, in which a coating bath a floats, is raised so as to immerse articles k, held by spikes l on a frame j, by admitting liquid from a tank e through a valve g, and is lowered by allowing the liquid to flow away through a valve i. Alternatively, the bath or the frame may be connected by cords and pulleys to a float in a separate tank; or the bath may be supported on a hydraulic ram which is raised by rack and pinion mechanism or by liquid pressure, and is lowered by opening a valve which allows liquid to escape from below the ram.
