Abstract
366,527. Brakes operating in conjunction with engine controls and clutches. McIVER, J. J. C., Brackey, Sixmilecross, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. Nov. 1, 1930, No. 32901. [Class 103 (i).] The controls on a motor vehicle are so arranged that, if the accelerator pedal is pressed beyond a certain position, it operates an auxiliary member whereby the brakes arc applied and either the clutch is disengaged or a valve is closed to cut off the fuel supply or both these additional operations are effected. The auxiliary member may comprise a pedal 2 adapted to be operated by the accelerator pedal 1 after this has been moved a predetermined distance, a spring in the throttle connection 12 allowing for such movement after the throttle has been fully opened. The pedal 2 is con. nected by a cable 3 to the ordinary brake pedal 4, by a rod 5 to a cut-off valve 6 in the petrol supply pipe 7 and by a link or cable to the usual clutch pedal.
