Abstract
366,314. Grease guns. STURGESS, H. A., of Menno Compressed Air Greasecup Co., Leeds Place, Tollington Park, Stroud Green, London. March 5, 1931, No. 6831. [Class 102 (ii).] A grease gun comprises a barrel a with a piston h of leather, metal, or leather and metal, and a rod f passing through a bush e in a tube d screwed into the end c of the barrel. The gun is filled by pressing the barrel into the grease, escape of air being permitted by a valve comprising a spring flap, or a ball n retained by a disc j. Grease is removed from the exterior of the barrel by means of a scraper tube p, which is normally pressed outwards by a spring r, and is retained by a collar s. Alternatively, the barrel is inserted into the grease through a hole b, Fig. 3, in a disc a, the hole being a scraping fit on the barrel. The grease is afterwards levelled by a scraper on the underside of the disc. Nozzles may be fitted to the gun by means of a bayonetjoint t.
