Abstract

Tiles and plates are moulded, and floor and wall coverings cast in situ from a composition consisting of asphalt emulsion, a filler such as cement, and chips of basalt, granite, artificial stone or marble, or buck, &c., the surface, when hardened, being ground until the chips are visible. For example, 1,75 vols. of asphalt emulsion, 1 vol. of cement or other filler, and 5 vols. of chips are used. Ornamental designs, such as stars and circles, may be formed in different colours.
