Abstract
Moulds for casting porcelain or metal objects, more especially for tooth fillings and the like, are coated with metal produced from a colloidal metal solution. For example, a platinic or gold chloride solution may be painted or sprayed on the walls of the mould and the solvent evaporated by heating. Alternatively the solution may be mixed with the impression material and remains on the walls of the cavity when the impression material is burnt or dissolved out therefrom. Also the solution may be mixed with the material of the mould to form a surface coating during the heating to burn out the impression.
