Abstract

259,812. Caspari, G. Jan. 28, 1926. Moulds; pressing dies. - In making artificial teeth from ceramic material a mould is formed in plaster or like quick setting material from a model and then used as a press to form the tooth. The mould is made in a two-part metal shell 1, 2. The form shown is designed for making a flatsided tooth. The shell 1 is filled with plaster with a flat surface 6 sloped off at 5 at an appropriate angle against which the model is laid and the curved surface is moulded in the part 2. Hollows 7 are formed in the surface 6 which form projections 8 to secure proper register. Dove-tailed holes 11 retain the plaster in the moulds. Channels 10 allow for the escape of surplus ceramic material, and of steam if the teeth are dried or baked in the moulds. The mould may be hardened and smoothed by means of a coating of shellac.
