Abstract

Solid ornaments for the decoration of moulded or cast articles are made by moulds into which the patterns are deeply engraved, the recesses being filled with moulding powder and then covered with a sheet of metal, tinfoil, paste-board, paper &c. on which has been spread a layer of adhesive. The powder in the recesses of the mould is solidified by pressure and heat to form the ornaments, which adhere to the metal &c. sheet when it is removed from the mould. The ornaments may be removed from the sheet, or the sheet may form the base of the mould for the ornamental article. After moulding the sheet may be removed or may form part of the finished article.
