Abstract

365,864. Screw sockets. PLEISTER, H. W., 239, Walnut Street, Westfield, New York, U.S.A. March 12, 1931, No. 7624. [Class 89 (i).] A hollow screw socket 1 has a threaded wedge portion 6 integrally connected to it by webs 8. When the bolt 11 is revolved to secure the work the portions 8 are broken and the wedge 6 expands the socket 1, which has slots engaging webs on the wedge to prevent relative rotation. In a modification a wedge portion is formed at each end of the socket. The socket may be secured by hammering before the bolt is applied.
