[Class 138 (ii).] In a washing machine having an electrically driven circulating pump l arranged within an auxiliary chamber within the washing vessel there is provided a curved wall f for deflecting the liquid and materials away from the pump inlet. The grating e, through which the pump draws, preferably forms an extension of the deflector and completes the division between the main washing vessel and the auxiliary chamber, but the grating may be omitted. The discharge pipe i may be pivotally mounted and adjustable in length.
