Abstract

264,514. Breton, J. L. Jan. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Disc-suported-blade pumps; casings.-A centrifugal pump used for a washing or similar machine has a rotor member 1 provided with blades 5 on each side and surrounded by a collar 6 secured in the casing so that each side of the rotor forms a separate pump. Each half-casing 7, 8 has suction and discharge conduits 9, 10. The pump. is shown in Fig. 3 used in a continuously operating washing machine. The suction pipes 9 are connected to two reservoirs 11, 12 and the discharge conduits 10 terminate in sprays 13, 14 so arranged that the water falls back into the reservoir from which it is drawn. Fresh liquid is supplied through the pipe 15 and waste passes away through the pipe 17. The reservoirs are connected by the opening 16 and the difference of levels n the two reservoirs produces the only force which tends to move liquid from one side of the pump rotor to the other through the space between the rotor and the collar 6.
