Abstract
365,339. Writing &c. pads. TURNER, G. C. and FULLER & MEAD, Ltd., 137, Borough High Street, London, Jan. 30, 1931, No. 3049. [Classes 16 and 146 (iii).] A tear-off writing, sketching, or like pad comprises a stiff base 1 to which paper sheets 2 are attached, binding strips 5 secured around two parallel edges of the base and paper sheets, perforations 4 in the paper sheets aligned with the upper inner edges of the binding strips, and means for securing the paper sheets along the bound edges. The base 1 may be of cardboard or millboard, and the paper sheets 2 may be secured to it by wire staples 3, by stitching or gumming, or by stitching and gumming. The binding strips 5 may be glued to the under surface of the base 1, the longitudinal edges of the paper sheets 2, and the narrow marginal layer 6 of the uppermost sheet of paper. A cover 7 may be gummed to the lower surface of the base 1, and a sheet of blotting paper 8 may be secured by the staples 3. A holder 9 for a pencil or pen, made from a piece of fabric, may be gummed along one edge of the block. The cover 7 may be a stiff member which can be folded back to form a strut to support the pad at an angle.
