Abstract

Threads or filaments obtained by dry-spinning a solution of an organic ester of cellulose and a small proportion of wax are delustred by treating with an aqueous soap solution at or near the boiling point. The wax, for example paraffin wax or spermaceti wax, may be homogenized with the cellulose ester solution at a temperature above the melting point of the wax according to the process of Specification 360,626. In an example, cloth woven from threads prepared by dry-spinning a solution of cellulose acetate and paraffin wax, is immersed in a solution of green olive oil soap at 90 DEG to 95 DEG C. and finally washed and dried. The cloth has a matt appearance.
